British Open Predictions, Picks and Golf Best Bets for Round 3: Rise of the Mac

Scottie Scheffler enters the weekend with a one-shot lead, and as Tony Sartori explains, he's worth an outright bet. To counter the juice, Sartori believes Robert MacIntyre can sneak inside the Top 5 at nice odds.

Scottie Scheffler enters the weekend in first place at 10-under par. He holds a one-shot lead over the rest of the field, and the world’s top golfer likely won’t slow down.

Here are my three best prop picks to live bet at this stage of the tournament. As always, monitor the odds and available pricing, as the player prop market is constantly changing.

Below, I break down the British Open odds and highlight three prop picks for the 2025 Open Championship.

Best British Open Round 3 predictions

Pick: Scottie Scheffler to win outright
-190 at DraftKings

Although -190 is not the most appealing number, it’s a favorable one to attack at this stage of the tournament. Scheffler entered the event as roughly a 5-1 favorite, depending on the book.

If you were offered -190 with the assurance that Scheffler would be in the solo lead entering the weekend, without any of the other top players in the world within six shots, would you take it? I certainly would have, and I will do so now.

The clinching factor here is that Scheffler’s putter has been tremendous this week. That’s usually his lone weakness, and if that club is dialed in, then no one is going to beat him but himself, something that rarely happens.

Pick: Robert MacIntyre to finish Top 5
+190 at DraftKings

Speaking of putters, MacIntyre’s has lacked its usual touch on the greens so far. That said, he’s typically a strong putter and shouldn’t have to work too hard to find his rhythm over the weekend.

MacIntyre has gained strokes putting in five of his past seven events, including his runner-up finish at the U.S. Open. He’s already tied for fifth this week, and if the putter even returns to average, he should maintain or improve his position on the leaderboard.

Pick: Kristoffer Retain over Matthew Jordan in Round 3
-115 at DraftKings

We’re going to look at a matchup prop to round out our pre-third-round picks. Reitan is matched up against Matthew Jordan at DraftKings at nearly a pick ’em, a generous price given how differently these two golfers are trending.

Reitan had one of the best second rounds in the field, gaining 5.41 total strokes, trailing only four other players. Meanwhile, Jordan tumbled down the leaderboard as one of just two golfers inside the top 25 to shoot over par in Round 2.

Jordan struggled off the tee, which has also been a recurring issue for him on the DP World Tour this season.
