The Athletics might not be in Vegas yet but getting out of Oakland has resulted in an offensive turnaround. Their surging lineup has been one of the biggest surprises in the MLB season but it can't hold a candle to the stellar lineup that the Los Angeles Dodgers trot out.
My MLB picks are betting on at least one of those teams to score a run in the first inning of their inter-league clash tonight. Here are my best free YRFI and NRFI bets for Tuesday, May 13.

NRFI/YRFI bets for May 13
Red Sox at Tigers: YRFI (-109 at ProphetX)
Boston Red Sox starter Brayan Bello has a 2.02 ERA through four starts but his expected ERA (5.53) and expected batting average (.285) indicate major regression.
He'll take on the Detroit Tigers who are fourth in the majors in runs per game (5.43). The Tigers have been red-hot, batting .285 with an OPS of .822 over the last 15 days.
The Red Sox can also mash, leading the majors in exit velocity and hard-hit rate, while ranking second in barrels. They are eighth in first-inning scoring rate (32.6%) and should get on the board early.
Lefty Tyler Holton will work as the opener for Detroit and he has an xERA of 4.46 in 15 relief appearances this year.
Pirates at Mets: NRFI (Play at ProphetX)
The New York Mets have a productive offense but they get off to slow starts, ranking just 25th in the majors in first-inning run percentage (23.8%).
They'll face off against Pittsburgh Pirates righty Mitch Keller, who is mediocre but tends to start strong before unraveling. He has a 2.25 ERA in the first inning this season and pitched to a 3.48 ERA with an OBA of .212 in the opening frame last year.
His counterpart is Kodai Senga, who has a 1.16 ERA through seven starts while pitching to a 2.57 ERA in the first inning. The 2023 All-Star should shut down a Pirates lineup that is second-last in OPS (.627) and dead-last in runs per game (3.10).
Athletics at Dodgers: YRFI (-135 at ProphetX)
The Los Angeles Dodgers are loaded at the top of their lineup. They are second in the majors in OPS (.805) while ranking third in runs per game (5.56). They've plated a run in the first inning in 39% of their games — tied for the highest number in the majors.
The Athletics are ninth in that metric (31.7%) and eighth in OPS (.739). The A's have yet to announce a starter for tonight but most of their rotation has struggled and Jeffrey Springs has the inside track. Springs has a 4.82 ERA through eight starts and has been terrible in the first inning, where he has pitched to a 13.50 ERA with an OBA of .351.
The Dodgers respond with sophomore Landon Knack, who has an xERA of 4.82 and is in the bottom 15th percentile in average exit velocity and hard-hit rate.
❓What are NRFI and YRFI bets❓
NRFI (No Run First Inning) and YRFI (Yes Run First Inning) bets add a thrilling twist to the start of an MLB game. A NRFI bet is a wager that no runs will be scored in the first inning. You're betting that the starting pitchers for both teams will get through the first inning without allowing any runs, whether by striking out batters, inducing ground balls, or through solid defensive play.
A YRFI bet is the exact opposite. You're betting that at least one run will be scored in the first inning. In this case, you’re hoping for an early offensive burst such as a leadoff walk, a timely hit, or even a home run.
NRFI and YRFI bets add excitement to the early part of a game and offer immediate gratification for bettors looking for a quick resolution.
