Q&A with Jared
How did you get into sports media?
I'm a lifelong sports fan, but I realized (pretty quickly) that I wasn't going to be a pro athlete — so a career where I got paid to talk about (and watch) sports was the next best thing!
Do you play any sports?
I competitively played fastpitch, soccer, basketball, and badminton when I was younger. Today, I recreationally play slo-pitch, basketball, tennis, soccer, and golf.
Who are your favorite sports teams?
Despite being born and raised in Nova Scotia, I can thank my father for being in an Empire State of Mind. I cheer for the New York Yankees, New York Rangers, New York Knicks, and New York Jets... but also randomly have a spot in my heart for the Cleveland Browns.
What do you love most about sports betting?
It's a chance to dive into numbers! I love comparing projections and prices to find any edge I can get in a bet since I'm a highly analytical, numbers-driven sports bettor.

Jared’s memories
🚀 Big wins
After cashing a futures bet on the St. Louis Blues on June 12, 2019 (my birthday) I took the entire winnings and doubled down on a Raptors -3.5 alt spread the following night against Golden State. Toronto was up by one with eight seconds left and Golden State had the ball, but a missed 3-pointer, wacky rebound and then a foul on GSW + a timeout technical foul gave Kawhi Leonard three free throws with 0.9 seconds left. He hit them all, the Raps won by four and I pulled off an absolute miracle cover.
😭 Bad beats
I erase them all from my memory... immediately. #GoodVibesOnly

Betting Analyst
Kyle LaRusic joined Covers in 2020 with a Holland College diploma in Journalism and a Mount Saint Vincent Degree in Public Relations. Stints at Amherst News and the Cape Breton Post helped sharpen his skills in a newsroom setting, while working for MSVU and Dalhousies athletic departments landed Kyle in his comfort zone. Kyle has been an avid bettor for over five years, starting with just one Sports Interaction account before discovering both the beauty and importance of price shopping. bet365 and Pinnacle are his go to books, but accounts at 10+ sportsbooks give him an array of options. Rusty will bet on anything under the sun as long as theres value and good reasoning behind it, but NHL and NFL are his two favorite leagues to watch and wager on especially with friends. Kyles biggest tip for any bettor is simple: gamble responsibly. Only bet what youre willing to lose and make sure to install a proper bankroll method to keep track of your ROI. If youre still dwelling on the amount you lost the next day, its time to decrease your spending.
