The second major championship is here, and the best of the best will tee it up at storied Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, and Bryson DeChambeau headline the betting favorites in the PGA Championship odds, and all three have won multiple major championships.
McIlroy also headlines my top golf picks for this week’s PGA Championship at Quail Hollow.

PGA Championship outright picks
Outright pick: Rory McIlroy
+500 at BetMGM
Rory McIlroy checks all the boxes this week, and in particular, he’s as close to automatic as it comes at Quail Hollow Club with four wins and another five Top 10s in 13 trips to the track. He paces this field in true strokes gained here across the past five Wells Fargo Championships held at Quail Hollow, too.
Of course, McIlroy also heads to the PGA Championship with four worldwide victories across his past 10 events, and he ranks third in this field in true strokes gained tee-to-green and 10th in putting during the heater.
While the price is short, and winning back-to-back major championships is obviously difficult, McIlroy is playing the best golf on the planet. His odds tilt the rest of the betting card to long shots, but I expect him to win his third PGA Championship this week.
Outright pick: Corey Conners
+7500 at FanDuel
The Canadian continues to show off an elite tee-to-green game, and he has carded a T13 and T8 in his past two trips to Quail Hollow.
Corey Conners is also coming off a solid T11 in the Truist Championship, and he’s gained true strokes off the tee and on approaches in seven consecutive events to rank fourth in this field in true strokes gained tee-to-green during the run.
The question mark with Conners is always the putter. So, it’s encouraging that he’s also gained true strokes putting during the seven-tournament stretch. I also value him improving on the greens during the 2024 Wells Fargo and finishing 11th in the metric (+2.14) during the final round.

PGA Championship prop picks
Finishing position pick: Patrick Reed Top 30
+140 at DraftKings
This is an enormous number for Patrick Reed.
He just finished solo third at the Masters and finished T2 in the 2017 PGA Championship at Quail Hollow. Add two more Top 10s in the 2018 Wells Fargo and 2021 editions, and Reed has proven he can golf his ball around the demanding track.
The American has also gained true strokes across the board during a solid stretch that includes seven consecutive Top 25 finishes with five Top 10s.
Additionally, Reed ranks 20th in both true strokes gained tee-to-green and putting in this field during the run, and he’s eighth in true strokes gained at Quail Hollow.
Finishing position pick: Harris English Top 40
+140 at DraftKings
The five-time PGA Tour winner has played the weekend in six consecutive major championships and finished T12 in the Masters. This will also be the seventh trip to Quail Hollow for Harris English, and he’s also made the cut in each of his first six.
English finished T3 in the 2023 Wells Fargo and followed it up with a T34 last year, and he has Top 40 finishes in four of his past five events.
Additionally, he’s one of the best putters on tour and ranks eighth in this field in true strokes gained putting dating back to his win at the Farmers, and he also has a solid track record at difficult courses.
Finishing position pick: Patrick Cantlay Top 20
+180 at bet365
Patrick Cantlay is rounding into top form with a T13 in the RBC Heritage and T4 last week in the Truist Championship, and he’s also played the weekend in 17 consecutive events dating back to his T3 in the 2024 U.S. Open.
The eight-time PGA Tour winner has 12 Top 20 finishes during the heater while gaining true strokes across the board, including ranking 12th in this field in true strokes gained tee-to-green.
His track record at Quail Hallow doesn’t jump off the page, but this will be his fifth trip to the track, and his showings in major championships have trended in the right direction. Cantlay has six Top 20s while making the cut in each of his past 11 majors.
PGA Championship first-round pick
Top golfer by category pick: Joaquin Niemann Top South American
-115 at bet365
Joaquin Niemann has three wins through eight LIV Golf events and will be playing Quail Hollow for the fourth time. He’s gained true strokes across the board dating back to his first 2025 victory and ranks eighth in tee-to-green and 14th in putting in this field during the run.
Niemann only needs to top Jhonattan Vegas and Nico Echavarria, and he’s a superior player to both.
Vegas has missed the cut in four of his past six majors, and Echavarria missed the cut in his lone trip to Quail Hollow.
