The PGA Tour and DP World Tour converge once again for the Genesis Scottish Open at The Renaissance Club, offering a final tune-up before The Open Championship.

With Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy topping the Scottish Open odds board, I’m looking further down the list with Xander Schauffele and Viktor Hovland headlining my top golf picks for the week.

Golf picks for the Scottish Open 2025

  • Schauffele to win outright (+2400)
  • Hovland to win outright (+3500)
  • Fitzpatrick Top 30 (+110)
  • Detry Top 40 (+105)
  • Scheffler Over 11.5 Round 1 pars (+105)

Scottish Open outright picks

Outright pick: Xander Schauffele
+2400 at bet365

A mini break ahead of the two weeks across the pond could be just what the 2022 Genesis and 2024 Open Championship winner needs to put it all together following a respectable eight-tourney run. Xander Schauffele has carded six Top 25s while gaining true strokes across the board, including ranking fifth in this field in tee-to-green play and sixth on approach.

Outright pick: Viktor Hovland
+3500 at DraftKings

This is a long number for an elite player in excellent form. Viktor Hovland ranks second in this field in true strokes gained tee-to-green and on approach across eight events dating back to his win at the Valspar, and he carded a solo third at the U.S. Open during the run.

Of course, Hovland is also a seven-time PGA Tour winner and has a pair of DP World Tour wins on his resume.

Scottish Open prop picks

Finishing position pick: Matt Fitzpatrick Top 30
+110 at DraftKings

Matt Fitzpatrick is trending in the right direction with two Top 10s and two additional Top 25s over his last six events. He’s gained true strokes across all key categories during the run, including ranking 18th in this field in tee-to-green play and 29th in putting.

The Englishman has also shown up at The Renaissance Club in the past, finishing T2 in 2021 and T6 in 2022.

Finishing position pick: Thomas Detry Top 40
+105 at bet365

Thomas Detry returns to The Renaissance Club for the seventh consecutive year with a pair of strong finishes already to his resume, with a T2 in 2021 and a T10 in 2022. He’s also gained true strokes on approach in all six of his prior trips to the course.

The Belgian claimed his first PGA Tour win earlier this season and has shown flashes of upside on both tours when his well-rounded game comes together. I’m expecting another strong finish this week.

Scottish Open first-round pick

Round 1 pick: Scottie Scheffler Over 11.5 pars
+105 at DraftKings

Scottie Scheffler made 12+ pars in both of the first two rounds of the 2023 Scottish Open for an average of 12.5 per, and I’m anticipating him signing off on a tidy card in Round 1 this year.

I’m also expecting the wind to have its say during the opening round at The Renaissance Club, which will leave just enough birdies outside the go zone and result in tap-in pars for Scheffler. Of course, the World No. 1 also ranks second in bogey avoidance on the PGA Tour this season, and he’s a patient player who won’t chase scoring opportunities and bring trouble into play.

Scottish Open odds

  • Scottie Scheffler: +360
  • Rory McIlroy: +800
  • Xander Schauffele: +1800
  • Tommy Fleetwood: +2200
  • Collin Morikawa: +2500
  • Robert MacIntyre: +3000
  • Ludvig Aberg: +3000
