Astros vs Brewers prediction
My Astros vs Brewers best bet: Quinn Priester Over 2.5 earned runs (+105 at bet365)
Quinn Priester hasn’t been around the big leagues for long, but he’s yet to enjoy any real success in The Show.
The 24-year-old owns a 1-0 record and 5.79 ERA this season, striking out 17 with 16 walks in just 23 1/2 innings of work. During that span, he’s also allowed 15 earned runs and 25 hits.
It seems like the basepaths are always clogged when Priester is on the hill, as his 1.76 WHIP attests.
The Milwaukee Brewers righty was lit up across his last two starts. First, he surrendered five earned to the St. Louis Cardinals before the Chicago Cubs tagged Priester for seven earned in just 4 1/3 frames, including two home runs. He’s had a difficult time getting outs.
To make matters worse, Priester’s ERA balloons to 6.75 at home compared to 5.14 on the road, though neither is particularly encouraging.
While he’s only faced Christian Walker in this Houston Astros lineup, I have little belief in Priester at the moment. Plus, if he allows only three or four earned, that could still end up being a respectable start if he gets run support.
Houston's offense hasn't been its usual world-beating self following some key offseason departures and Yordan Alvarez's struggles and subsequent injury. But the Astros still don't strike out often and will do some damage against Priester, who simply does not miss bats.
Astros vs Brewers same-game parlay (SGP)
Rhys Hoskins is swinging it well for the Brew Crew so far, batting .267 with four homers and 15 RBI in 33 contests. Hoskins has enjoyed success in this Astros series, going 3-for-8 with a pair of doubles and three RBI. He’s also cashed the Over in hits in three of his last four appearances.
Hoskins is just 1-for-7 lifetime against Framber Valdez, but, he’s hitting .278 at home and against left-handed pitchers. Hoskins will record at least one hit in this contest and keep up his hot streak against the Astros.
Jackson Chourio is one of Milwaukee’s best hitters, but his hit total today is a bit too high. He’s only registered Over 1.5 hits once in his last eight games. He could certainly make an impact, but I’m not predicting a multi-hit game for the youngster.
