The San Francisco Giants and Chicago Cubs wrap up their three-game set at Wrigley Field on Wednesday, May 7.

My Giants vs. Cubs predictions and MLB picks call for San Fran lefty Robbie Ray to have a solid showing on the hill with weather forecasts calling for the wind to be howling in at The Friendly Confines this afternoon.

Giants vs Cubs prediction

My Giants vs Cubs best bet: Robbie Ray Over 16.5 outs (-110 at BET99)

The wind is forecasted to be gusting in at Wrigley Field on Wednesday afternoon, and San Francisco Giants lefty Robbie Ray has settled in across his past three starts with a trio of gems.

Ray sports a solid 3.05 ERA, WHIP, and 4.18 xFIP for the campaign, but he’s been even better with respective 1.25, 0.91, and 3.04 marks across his past three starts. The lefty has also limited opposing hitters to a .179 batting average while posting a high-end 27.4 strikeout percentage.

The Chicago Cubs have an excellent offense and rank with a .376 wOBA and third with a .220 ISO against left-handed pitchers. Still, Chicago is likely to see a splash of negative regression moving forward, and registering an extra-base hit in 10.5% of its at bats against southpaws is also likely unsustainable.

Add the unfriendly hitting conditions to San Francisco leaning on the bullpen in the first two games of the series, and I like Ray to have a long leash and flirt with six full frames of work this afternoon.

Giants vs Cubs same-game parlay (SGP)

Robbie Ray Over 16.5 outs

Robbie Ray Over 5.5 strikeouts

Ben Brown Under 2.5 walks

As highlighted, Ray has shown an uptick in strikeouts with his 27.4% K-rate across his past three starts. While the Cubs sport a minuscule 17.5 K% against lefties, I anticipate Ray pitching deep enough into this contest to pick up six punchouts.

Turning to Chicago righty Ben Brown, he’s allowed a walk or fewer in three of his past four starts for a 2.29 BB/9 and 5.9 BB%. I also value that he’s posted a 70.6 first-strike percentage during the stretch.
