Blue Jays Picks, Predictions & Best Bets vs the Tigers for July 26

Kevin Gausman is coming off one of his strongest outings of the season and draws a Tigers lineup that hasn't done much of anything since the All-Star break. He'll keep them down at least one more game.

We’ve got a busy betting slate around Major League Baseball tonight, including another matchup between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Detroit Tigers.

The Tigers' bats have been ice cold since the All-Star break, and my Blue Jays predictions expect Kevin Gausman to keep them cooled off.

Blue Jays predictions for July 26

Today’s Blue Jays best bet: Gaus on the fire

Pick: Kevin Gausman Under 2.5 earned runs (-133 at BetVictor)

We’ve got a pitchers' duel as AL Cy Young betting favorite Tarik Skubal starts for the Detroit Tigers while the Toronto Blue Jays respond with ace Kevin Gausman, who is coming off one of his best starts of the season.

It’s been a rollercoaster year for Gausman, who sports a 7-7 record with a 4.01 ERA through 20 starts.

His underlying metrics suggest he’s been a better pitcher than those numbers indicate, with a 3.82 xERA and a .286 xBA. So, some positive progression is coming in the second half of the season.

This is why Gausman’s last outing, where he threw seven innings of one-run baseball against the Yankees, allowing just four hits, while striking out eight, was so encouraging.

Considering how much Detroit is struggling to generate offense, Gausman should tame the Tigers tonight as well.

Detroit is 1-7 since the All-Star break and is averaging just 1.8 runs per game, with a.193 batting average and a league-worst .246 wOBA.

So this is as much a fade on the Tigers as it is a Gausman endorsement.

Today’s Blue Jays same-game parlay (SGP)

Kevin Gausman Under 2.5 earned runs

Kevin Gausman Over 5.5 strikeouts

Blue Jays -1.5

I’ll continue to fade Detroit’s offense by taking Gausman to go Over 5.5 strikeouts. He’s 12-8 to the Over at this number this year, and is poised to get a lot of swing and miss against the Tigers, who have a 25.7% K-rate since the break.

Toronto has beaten up on the Tigers, cashing the run line twice already, and has shown the ability recently to beat up on quality pitching.

Additionally, Tarik Skubal has been on paternity leave for the past few days. Pitchers are creatures of routine, and I’m intrigued to see how he handles his start tonight. Toronto is the toughest test he could’ve had upon his return, that’s for sure.
