After yo-yoing between wins and losses in the last five games, the Detroit Tigers look to make it two straight wins when they take on the Chicago Cubs.

Chicago is a slight -115 moneyline favorite, but our Cubs vs Tigers predictions and MLB picks have this one staying below the total on Saturday, June 7.

Cubs vs Tigers prediction

My Cubs vs Tigers best bet: Under 8.5 (-105 at Caesars)

The Chicago Cubs came into Motown as the highest-scoring team in baseball, putting up 5.74 runs per game, one of only four teams touching the five-run plateau. However, they were limited to a run on nine hits while leaving six runners on base and going a rough 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position on Friday.

The Detroit Tigers have the top ERA in the American League, and third-best in baseball at 3.16.

Both the starters and relievers rank inside the Top 5 in ERA. Teams are hitting just .227 against them on the year, the fourth-lowest average in the majors.

Chicago's Jameson Taillon has won three straight starts, allowing four earned runs across those games. Last time out, he pitched 6 1/3 innings of three-hit ball, surrendering just two runs in a 7-3 win over the Reds.

Detroit will initially counter with reliever Tyler Holton, who will be tasked with taking down at least the first three batters he sees, before giving way to Keider Montero.

This is only Holton’s second starting appearance in 2025, and Montero is a great fill-in, as he hasn’t given up an earned run in his last two outings.

The Cubs have seen the Under cash in three straight, while the Tigers have gone Under in four of their last seven.

Cubs vs Tigers same-game parlay (SGP)

Under 8.5

Javier Baez 1+ RBI

Tyler Holton Under 1.5 strikeouts

In 21 career at-bats vs. Taillon, Javier Baez is hitting a sizzling .571 with two homers, four doubles, and six RBI.

Holton's picked up just two strikeouts in one of his last 10 appearances, mostly because he deals with so few hitters.

With his line at 1.5 Ks again, we’re banking that he stays on trend against the Cubs with an early hook.
