Avalanche vs Stars Prediction, Picks & Odds for Tonight's NHL Playoffs Game 7

The Colorado Avalanche appear to have momentum on their side as Game 7 approaches. As Tony Satori explains, the deeper team will win out, which means the Avs will move on to the second round.

Get ready for an electrifying Game 7 this Saturday as the Dallas Stars welcome the Colorado Avalanche to the American Airlines Center.

After Colorado’s explosive 7-4 victory in Game 6, my Avalanche vs. Stars predictions back the visitors to finish off their comeback and take the series.

Check out my NHL picks for Saturday, May 3, below.

Who will win Avalanche vs Stars Game 7?

Despite Dallas’ higher seed, Colorado is the superior team. The Avalanche are stronger offensively, defensively, and in net.

Add in the absences of Miro Heiskanen and Jason Robertson, and I believe the Stars are going to let this series slip away.

My Avalanche vs Stars pick: Avalanche moneyline (-130 at BET99)

Defenseman Miro Heiskanen and forward Jason Robertson remain out for the Dallas Stars, as they have been since before this series began. While some players have done an exceptional job stepping up, the cracks are starting to show as the Colorado Avalanche have won two of the past three games.

While Dallas has the advantage of playing on home ice, that is more than offset by Colorado’s superiority across the board. Since Heiskanen’s injury in late January, the Avalanche outranks the Stars in expected goals for per 60 minutes (xGF/60), expected goals against per 60 (xGA/60), and expected goals percentage (xGF%).

Furthermore, goaltender Mackenzie Blackwood guards the net for Colorado. Since joining the Avs midway through the season, Blackwood has posted a 22-12-3 record with a .913 save percentage and 2.33 goals-against average.

On the other side, Jake Oettinger has struggled down the stretch for Dallas. He has allowed three or more goals in seven of his past nine starts, posting a 3-6 record with a .890 save percentage and 3.69 goals-against average over that span.

Colorado is the stronger and healthier team, which is enough to outweigh the Stars’ home-ice advantage in Game 7.

Avalanche vs Stars same-game parlay (SGP)

Avalanche moneyline

Nathan MacKinnon to score

Cale Makar Over 0.5 assists

A strong candidate to help the Avs' cause is forward Nathan MacKinnon, who has scored six goals over the first six games of this series.

MacKinnon is one of the best players in the world, and it’s unlikely the Avs advance without his contribution. If he scores, then Cale Makar has an increased chance of recording an assist.

Makar serves as the quarterback of the first power play unit, which has scored three times through the first six games.
