The Edmonton Oilers host the Vegas Golden Knights in a massive swing game tonight.

With a win, the Oilers would put the Golden Knights on the brink of elimination. If they lose, though, it’s a 2-2 series with Vegas having home ice the rest of the way. The stakes couldn’t be higher!

Let’s break down a few players worth backing in my Golden Knights vs. Oilers props for May 12. For more NHL picks, check out our Golden Knights vs. Oilers predictions.

Best Golden Knights vs Oilers props

  • Red Wings Hertl o0.5 points (-110)
  • Red Wings Bouchard o0.5 assists (-120)
  • Red Wings Perry o0.5 points (+105)

Golden Knights vs Oilers player props for May 12

Tomas Hertl Over 0.5 points (-110 at Bet99)

Tomas Hertl has quietly been one of the Golden Knights’ best players in this series. They've generated 70 shot attempts, 33 scoring chances, and 3.79 expected goals with him on the ice, all of which rank him near the top of the team. Unfortunately for Hertl, only two pucks found the back of the net.

The important thing is he’s helping generate chances. Over time, they should start to materialize. Facing Stuart Skinner may aid his cause, as he's struggled mightily in the playoffs — allowing 6.4 goals above expectation over just three games.

Hertl plays top-six minutes and skates on the No. 1 power play, so he’s as likely to benefit as anybody if Skinner’s struggles continue. Not to mention, Bruce Cassidy may have to put more on Hertl’s plate, given several key players are dealing with injuries.

Evan Bouchard Over 0.5 assists (-120 at Bet99)

Evan Bouchard is an assist machine. The star offensive defenseman has picked up at least one apple in 15 of his last 21 home games, good for a remarkable 71.43% hit rate over that span.

Bouchard took full advantage of home ice in Game 3, picking up a pair of assists in the 4-3 defeat.

He was attached to the hip of Connor McDavid at 5-on-5 — they shared the ice for more than 14 minutes in that game state — and, after Jack Eichel’s unit, the Keegan Kolesar line was the opposing line Bouchard spent the most time against. The perks of home ice!

McDavid and Leon Draisaitl are Edmonton’s super powers and Kris Knoblauch clearly feels getting Bouchard out there with them as much as possible is the best way to unlock their offensive ceiling.

Given Bouchard’s role and how gifted he is with the puck, there’s a good chance he can help create a goal in Game 4.

Corey Perry Over 0.5 points (+105 at Bet99)

Corey Perry has been living the penthouse life of late. He’s skating on the top line with McDavid and Draisaitl — very arguably the two most dangerous players in the sport — and has also earned himself a spot on the top power-play unit. He could not have handpicked a better situation to play in the entire league.

To his credit, the savvy veteran has taken full advantage of the opportunity. He has four points over his last three games and has hit the score sheet each game in this series.

At plus money, I’d be tempted to back myself for a point when every shift comes alongside McDavid and Draisaitl.
