The WNBA returns to action after All-Star weekend with a juicy five-game slate.

The final matchup of the night will be between the Atlanta Dream and Las Vegas Aces at Michelob ULTRA Arena. Oddsmakers expect the contest to be close, but my Dream vs. Aces predictions will dictate why the home team has the tools to pull away.

Dream vs Aces predictions

My Dream vs Aces best bet: Aces moneyline (-115 at FanDuel)

The Las Vegas Aces need to kick it into gear in the second half of the season as they look to make a playoff push.

Much was made about the loss of Kelsey Plum in the offseason, and her loss was felt on both ends of the floor as the Aces simply did not look like a team that had any chemistry or cohesion for extended periods of time.

Heading into the All-Star break, the Aces found some giddy up in their offense, scoring 90+ points vs. the Dallas Wings and Golden State Valkyries, both games which they won. Can they keep that momentum up coming out of the All-Star break?

With Jackie Young (questionable), the onus will fall on A'Ja Wilson (as it so often does) and Jewell Loyd to do the bulk of the scoring, and I say that combo is good enough — in this spot, to carry the team to victory.

If we look at the Atlanta Dream, sure, they have the better record at 13-9, but they've been poor away from home. They have dropped four of their last five road games, with the only win coming against a shorthanded Chicago Sky side.

Without Rhyne Howard in the lineup (she's out until August), the Dream's scoring balance is out of sync, which is why I don't see them having success in an arena they've dropped four straight in.

Dream vs Aces same-game parlay (SGP)

Aces moneyline

A'Ja Wilson Over 23.5 points

A'Ja Wilson Under 3.5 assists

A'Ja Wilson should be fresh enough to dominate this game from start to finish and lead the Aces to victory. She played sparingly in the All-Star Game and sat out practice on Monday. She's rested and she's coming off back-to-back 34+ points performances. She's option 1A and 1B on the offensive end, and as a volume shooter, the opportunity for assists doesn't present itself too often.
