The Los Angeles Sparks will look to pick up where they left off as they return from the All-Star break by visiting the Washington Mystics on Tuesday night.

Los Angeles blew out Washington at home in their last meeting, and I’m taking it to pick up another win tonight in my Sparks vs. Mystics predictions.

Read on for a complete breakdown of tonight’s game in my free WNBA picks for Tuesday, July 22.

The Los Angeles Sparks looked to be playing some of their best basketball of the season heading into All-Star weekend. Los Angeles has won three of its last four, and culminating in a 99-80 blowout victory against the Washington Mystics on July 15.

In that game, the Sparks overwhelmed the Mystics with their variety of offensive weapons. Dearica Hamby, Rickea Jackson and Kelsey Plum each went for 20+ points, as Los Angeles proved to be the more physical team, especially in the frontcourt.

While the Sparks are just 8-14 on the year, Los Angeles is benefitting from a healthier lineup, more time to adjust to the system implemented by new head coach Lynne Roberts, and a deep roster that is getting contributions from role players like Julie Allemand, who had 10 assists against the Mystics in the last matchup.

The Sparks are averaging 87.1 ppg over their last eight games, and Washington – which holds the second-lowest offensive rating in the WNBA at 92.5 – will struggle to keep up with their offensive output yet again tonight.

This will be closer than last week’s game, but I’m taking Los Angeles to pick up the win.

Over 167.5

Kelsey Plum Over 17.5 points (18+ points)

Along with taking Los Angeles to win, I’m also going to take the Over tonight.

The Sparks have hit the Over in four straight contests, and the last meeting between these teams was played to a total of 179 points.

I’ll also take Kelsey Plum to hit the Over on her scoring total of 17.5 points, something she’s done in six of her last eight games.

Since joining Covers in 2022, Ed has offered his sports betting analysis primarily on MLB, NFL, college football, and college basketball games, but is willing to take on any sport.

His betting strategy focuses more on finding line value based on deviations from the market rather than traditional handicapping, primarily shopping between DraftKings, FanDuel, and Fanatics in his home state of Connecticut, though he’s not afraid to do deep game analysis to find profitable bets at any book.

Outside of gambling, Ed is an avid curler who competes in mixed doubles on the World Curling Tour and runs a popular curling YouTube channel, Chess on Ice. That experience has come in handy during the Olympics, when he has proven to be a successful curling bettor as well.

Ed's advice to new bettors is to always open multiple sportsbook accounts and check the odds at each before placing any bet. Successful sports betting is about consistently beating the closing line value, which requires finding spots where one book is offering odds far better than the rest of the market and jumping on those opportunities.
