The world continues to doubt the Indiana Pacers. They have gone 13-4 this postseason, and yet they are four-bucket underdogs against the Oklahoma City Thunder tonight.

Let’s find a way to capitalize on that skepticism with a Pacers vs. Thunder same-game parlay before tip at 8:00 p.m. ET.

Pacers vs Thunder SGP - June 8

Pacers +11

Obi Toppin Over 1.5 threes

Thunder team total Over 119.5

The Indiana Pacers have gone 12-5 against the spread this postseason while the Oklahoma City Thunder are just 7-10 ATS, yet this spread has moved a full point toward the Thunder compared to Game 1. It is distinctly possible that oddsmakers are too committed to their regular-season numbers.

At some point, the Pacers deserve more credit, while the title favorites should be looked at with some doubt.

That thought extends beyond Game 1, though even before the dramatic comeback, Indiana was in position to cover the spread. Oklahoma City has now gone 1-3 ATS in its last four games, and the two games before that relied entirely on brief third-quarter surges to clear those spreads.

Trusting Obi Toppin to hit multiple 3-pointers also extends beyond Game 1, when he went 5-of-8 from deep. The Thunder gladly give up looks from the corner. That is a design of their defense, trusting their defenders to close out from the interior with enough hustle to frazzle shooters.

But that clearly did not impact the 6-foot-9 Toppin, who has shot well from the corner all season. This prop is plus-money priced on its own, and that provides this same-game parlay some value.

Adding in trust that Oklahoma City will pour in points escalates this payout beyond expectations. Combining that team total Over with Indiana covering the spread is obviously counterintuitive.

However, the Thunder were atrocious in transition in Game 1, turning 25 Pacers’ turnovers into just 11 points. Fixing that failure could turn tonight into a high-scoring affair.

Douglas Farmer spends his days thinking about college football and his nights thinking about the NBA. His betting habits and coverage follow that same pattern. He covered Notre Dame football for various outlets from 2008 to 2024, most notably spending eight seasons as NBC Sports’ beat writer on the Irish. That was also when his gambling focus took off. Knowing there were veteran beat writers with three decades more experience than he had, Douglas found his niche by best recognizing Notre Dame’s standing in each year’s national landscape, a complex tapestry most easily understood and remembered via betting odds.

In 2021, that interest created a freelance opportunity with Covers, a role that eventually led to Douglas joining the company full-time in 2023. In the fall, Douglas will place five or six dozen bets each week, a disproportionate amount via BetRivers because the operator tends to have lines slightly different than the rest of the market. The same can be said of Circa Sports’ futures markets.

While Douglas is an avid NBA fan and covers the league throughout the year, the vast majority of his bets are on college football, because that is the biggest key to sports betting: Know what you do not know.
