The Carolina Hurricanes and Ottawa Senators will meet tonight in the season finale before the Stanley Cup playoffs begin.

Tim Stutzle continues to flourish for Ottawa, and my Hurricanes vs Senators predictions see him finishing the campaign on a high note.

Find out more in my NHL picks for Thursday, April 17.

Senators vs Hurricanes prediction

My Senators pick: Tim Stutzle Over 0.5 assists (+105 at Pinnacle)

My Senators analysis
Tim Stutzle was once again solid in 2024-25, leading the Ottawa Senators in points with 76. He has scored 23 goals and supplied a team-best 53 helpers — a career-high for the German.

The 23-year-old had a four-game stretch where he failed to register a single point, but he’s picked it up since. Stutzle has two assists in his last two appearances against Philadelphia and Chicago.

Although Stutzle doesn’t have a point in two games against the Carolina Hurricanes this season, 33 of his 53 helpers have come at home. Ottawa is hosting the Hurricanes this evening before their first-round series with Toronto begins.

For what it’s worth, Carolina is also resting several key guys for the finale, including Seth Jarvis, Jake Sanderson, Jordan Martinook, and Sebastian Aho. Stutzle should be able to register one more assist before the campaign comes to an end.

Senators vs Hurricanes odds analysis

The line opened with the Canes at -100 and the Sens at -112, but it has since shifted, with Carolina resting several key players. Ottawa is now a -125 favorite, while the Hurricanes return at +113. The visitors have won four of the last five against the Senators.

As for the total, it remains at 5.5, with the Over sitting at -115 and the Under at +100. The Under does offer value considering it’s hit in three of the last four head-to-head matchups. With Carolina resting top scorers Aho and Jarvis, the Under is worth strong consideration.
