The Indiana Fever entered this year with high hopes of a Caitlin Clark-led playoff run before injuries derailed that script, and now their season is on the line against the Atlanta Dream.
Indiana didn’t like the whistle in Sunday’s Game 1 loss, and the mood may not be any better here at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, with my Dream vs Fever predictions expecting Atlanta to wrap up the series behind a strong outing from its star guard.
Check out my WNBA picks for the Game 2 matchup on September 16.
Dream vs Fever predictions
My Dream vs Fever best bet: Allisha Gray Over 16.5 points (-115 at FanDuel)
The talent gap in this series puts the Atlanta Dream in a position where they can seal a double-digit victory without playing their best basketball. That’s what we saw in their 80-68 Game 1 win, and it leaves the Indiana Fever with an uphill battle tonight.
I’m expecting the Dream to shoot the ball more efficiently in Game 2 after missing 15 of their 22 threes on Sunday, and that starts with Allisha Gray as Atlanta’s No. 1 option.
The Over on Gray's points prop jumps off the screen here. She finished with 20 points in Game 1 despite going 5-for-16 from the field, and she was smart enough to get to the charity stripe when her shot wasn’t falling.
With Jordin Canada still settling back into the starting group on her return from a hamstring injury, Gray is in line for big minutes again, and this O/U doesn’t line up with her career-high 18.4 PPG during the regular season. Sure, the game slows down in the playoffs, but I don’t see this Indiana defense keeping her in check.
Gray has shot 38% from downtown this year, and she’s nailed this Over in five of her past eight contests. It takes top-tier scorers to win on the road in the postseason, and I expect Gray to answer the call tonight.
Dream vs Fever same-game parlay (SGP)
The Dream can show their ruthless streak in Game 2 with the chance to wrap up this first-round series, and I’m laying the points. Atlanta is 29-15-1 ATS this year, while covering the spread in nine of its last 10 outings.
There’s a lot riding on Aliyah Boston tonight for a Fever team that’s 5-5 in its past 10 contests. Boston grabbed 12 boards in Game 1 and, though Indiana seems overmatched in the frontcourt, I like the Over on her rebounds tally here, with a must-win game driving a heavy minutes load.
