Rangers vs Tigers Prediction, Picks & Odds for Today’s MLB Game

Best known for his strikeout prowess, Jack Flaherty should rack up plenty of punchouts against a Texas lineup that has lacked plate discipline in 2025.

Detroit Tigers right-hander Jack Flaherty put together a fantastic bounce-back campaign in 2024 and has picked up where he left off in the early going this season, posting a 3.79 ERA while striking out 46 batters through 38 innings of work.

Now set to face the Texas Rangers, I expect the Ks to be there again for Flaherty against a lineup loaded with left-handed hitters, which should work in his favor tonight.

Let’s take a closer look at my Rangers vs. Tigers predictions and MLB picks for Saturday, May 10.

Rangers vs Tigers prediction

My Rangers vs Tigers best bet: Jack Flaherty Over 5.5 strikeouts (-122 at FanDuel)

Jack Flaherty has averaged 6.6 punch-outs per game and cleared this line in four of seven starts to date.

All of Faherty's failures came in difficult matchups. The Dodgers have as much firepower as anybody in the majors; the Astros strike out at a below-average rate, and the Brewers crack the Top 10 in avoiding strikeouts against right-handed pitchers.

While the Texas Rangers generally don’t strike out a ton, something is working in Flaherty’s favor: a lot of left-handed hitters. The Detroit Tigers' starter has dominated them this season, striking out nearly 31% of lefties faced. That is close to 10% above the league average.

Luckily for Flaherty, the Rangers feature plenty of lefties in their lineup. He is also plenty capable of sitting down right-handed batters, and the Rangers have a couple of below-average contact guys like Adolis Garcia.

Not to mention, the Rangers rank first in swing rate against right-handed pitchers over the last three weeks. They are extremely aggressive, and Flaherty is fantastic at missing bats.

Look for him to feast at Comerica Park tonight.

Rangers vs Tigers same-game parlay (SGP)

Jack Flaherty Over 5.5 strikeouts

Wyatt Langford Over 0.5 hits

Riley Greene Over 0.5 hits

Wyatt Langford is a hitting machine, boasting at least one knock in 69% of his games this season and 14 of his last 18 (77%).

The Rangers' budding star has teed off on right-handed pitchers, posting a .289 batting average for the year. Conversely, Flaherty has had a much tougher time against right-handed hitters like Langford. He’s held lefties to a .159 average, but righties have hit .256.

The splits look good for Riley Greene as well. Jacob deGrom currently allows a batting average 42 points greater to left-handed batters, and Greene has posted an average 47 points higher against right-handed pitchers.

Although Greene hasn’t had a hit in three straight games, the splits indicate this could be a good spot to get back on track.
