Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has maintained consistency as the Blue Jays have found a groove. With a chance to go above .500, he will factor into tonight's scoring against the Rays.

It might not feel like it, but the Toronto Blue Jays sit at .500 a quarter of the way through the season thanks to a four-game winning streak, including a sweep of the Mariners in Seattle.

Next up is the pesky rivals, the Tampa Bay Rays, who come to town to open a three-game set.

Extending the winning streak won’t be easy against Rays starter Shane Baz, but my Blue Jays predictions and MLB picks highlight a certain slugger who might need to carry the offense on Tuesday, May 13.

Blue Jays predictions for May 13

Today’s Blue Jays best bet: Red hot returning home

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Over 1.5 total bases (+115 at BetVictor)

The American League East is going to be a wild ride all season because each team has its flaws. But there will be an opportunity for the Toronto Blue Jays if they tinker with the roster just a bit and play up to their potential.

That also means exercising some demons against the Tampa Bay Rays, who, for the most part, have gotten the better of the Jays over the years.

Game 1 of this series in Toronto features an intriguing pitching matchup as Jose Berrios toes the rubber against Shane Baz.

It feels like it is all or nothing with Berrios this season, but he has now strung together three strong starts in a row, allowing four runs while striking out 21 over 18 innings. The Jays’ right-hander also has some iffy numbers against Rays hitters, but once again, he threw two quality starts against Tampa last season.

Baz, on the other hand, is starting to tap into his potential. He's ranked in the 65th percentile in expected ERA and the 75th in expected batting average.

However, he has been roughed up over his last two starts. The hard-throwing right-hander has been tagged for 13 runs on 17 hits in losses to the Philadelphia Phillies and the Kansas City Royals.

And while Baz has some good numbers against the Jays, there is at least one guy who has given him problems. You guessed it, it’s Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

Vladdy is 4-for-8 eight in his career vs. Baz, which is good for a .318 xBA. The Blue Jays slugger is also locked in right now.

Guerrero is not only hitting .314 with a .851 OPS over his last 13 games, but he's also in the 90th percentile or better in xBA, average exit velocity, hard-hit percentage, and bat speed.

Basically, he’s hitting the ball hard and often. So, let’s take him to go Over 1.5 total bases at solid plus money tonight.

Today’s Blue Jays same-game parlay (SGP)

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Over 1.5 total bases

George Spring Over 0.5 RBI

Jose Berrios Over 5.5 strikeouts

With Guerrero getting on base tonight, let’s take George Springer to drive him in. Springer continues his strong play in 2025, hitting .297 with a .921 OPS and 18 RBI this season.

And let’s close this same-game parlay with Berrios. When Berrios is spinning his pitches, he can be very tough to hit. This has been the case over his last three starts, where his strikeout rate is 27.3%.

He now faces a Rays lineup that has the seventh-highest strikeout rate against right-handed pitchers. Berrios also punched out six batters in two of his three starts against the Rays last season.
