HR picks for May 13
Matt Olson (+350 at DraftKings)
Matt Olson has always been known as one of the better power hitters in the big leagues. The Atlanta Braves first baseman smacked 54 home runs two years ago and added 29 last season.
As for 2025, he’s only gone deep seven times so far, but the slugger has launched six of those bombs in the last month. The veteran also enters tonight with a three-game hitting streak, including two dingers in his last eight contests.
Olson is set to face former Braves starter Mike Soroka, who is struggling immensely. The righty has an ERA over 7.00 against his ex-team.
The Washington Nationals also have the worst bullpen in the MLB, giving Olson even more of a chance to put one in the bleachers once Soroka exits. Six of Olson’s homers have also come off right-handers.
Carlos Santana (+425 at DraftKings)
Carlos Santana is back in a Cleveland Guardians uniform, hitting .223 with four home runs and 19 RBI. He’s gone deep twice in May and will have a favorable matchup tonight as the Milwaukee Brewers send Quinn Priester to the mound.
Priester owns an ERA north of 5.00 and has surrendered three home runs so far this season. Santana is 2-for-3 lifetime against the right-hander, including a homer to boot.
All four of Santana’s long balls have come against RHP, so the veteran slugger should thrive in this spot.
Kerry Carpenter (+500 at DraftKings)
Detroit Tigers' outfielder Kerry Carpenter has been treating the cover off the baseball, batting .288 with nine home runs and 21 RBI.
In fact, Carpenter is hitting .341 in May with a pair of homers. The Tigers will have it tough tonight as the Boston Red Sox hand Brayan Bello the ball, who sports an ERA just over 2.00. However, Carpenter has gone 1-for-2 against him with a solo bomb.
Five of Carpenter’s homers have come at Comerica Park, and seven of them are off righties. A lot is pointing towards the youngster hitting double digits in homers in Motown tonight.
