Blue Jays predictions for May 11

Today’s Blue Jays best bet: Bichette tees off in series finale

Bo Bichette Over 1.5 total bases (+105 at BetVictor)

The Toronto Blue Jays aim to complete the three-game sweep this afternoon with a win over the Seattle Mariners.

Toronto has outscored Seattle 12-6 through the first two games of the series as the Jays’ offense continues to perform well. The Birds have won three straight games, and their increase in offensive production is the biggest reason for it, as they’ve scored 20 runs over this stretch.

A significant reason for Toronto’s offensive outburst is Bo Bichette’s bat suddenly heating up.

Bichette is in the midst of a four-game hitting streak with six hits, five walks, and an OPS of 1.149. He’s hit this Mariners staff well too, recording a pair of hits in each game this series with three additional walks.

Translation: he’s seeing the ball well.

The process has been there all season long for Bichette, but it hasn't yet yielded the results the underlying metrics suggest he should have. Bichette owns a .311 expected batting average, which ranks in the 93rd percentile among all MLB batters.

His hot bat should continue into this afternoon’s ballgame as Seattle sends right-hander Bryce Miller to the mound.

The Jays slugger is hitting .300 against right-handed pitching this season with an OPS of .738.

Miller is 2-3 this season with a 4.15 ERA and an opponent OBP of .349. He’s really struggled with walks this season, averaging 4.9 walks per nine innings, which ranks him in the 11th percentile of all pitchers.

Today’s Blue Jays same-game parlay (SGP)

Bo Bichette Over 1.5 total bases

Alejandro Kirk Over 0.5 hits

Jose Urena Over 2.5 earned runs allowed

For the first leg of our SGP, we will stick with the best bet and take Bichette to go Over 1.5 total bases.

Next for my SGP, I will continue to bet on the Blue Jays' hot bats and take Alejandro Kirk to go Over 0.5 hits. He went 4-for-5 last night and has recorded at least one hit in nine of his past 11 games, where he has totaled 18 hits in that stretch for a .391 average.

For the final leg of our SGP,  I’m fading the Jays’ starting pitcher Jose Urena by taking Over 2.5 earned runs allowed.

It’s his second start as a Blue Jay and third appearance in the big leagues this season. He’s allowed three homers and seven runs in his previous two outings.

The Mariners rank fourth in the majors in home runs and have the best walk rate in baseball.
