Novak Djokovic is two match wins away from making history when he meets Jannik Sinner in the semifinals of the French Open.

The former World No. 1 is a heavy underdog, but my Djokovic vs. Sinner predictions expect the Joker to give the Italian a run for his money.

Sinner vs Djokovic prediction and best bet

Match analysis

Novak Djokovic has surprised us once again. The three-time Roland Garros champ has lost only one set on his way to his 13th-career French Open semifinal appearance.

Sluggish start against Alexander Zverev aside, the 24-time major champion has blown through the field much like he did to win his 100th career title just two weeks ago.

It won’t be easy. Sinner has romped through the field without dropping one set and is regarded as a bigger, better version of the GOAT himself.

The World No. 1 hasn’t played a bad match since his May return from a three-month PED suspension, but Novak and his bag of tricks can force even the best players out of their comfort zone.

All the pressure is on Sinner to deliver the goods on his least favorite surface. Djokovic hasn’t lost a match on Phillipe Chatrier since losing in the 2022 final to Rafael Nadal, and he’ll find a way to beat the Italian.

Best best analysis

Novak Djokovic is a three-time champion, yet is a 3:1 underdog against a man who hasn’t won a clay-court title since 2022.

An open roof and a forecast calling for some drizzle and strong, gusty winds will be less-than-optimal conditions for the big-serving Italian against arguably the best returner the game has ever seen.

Sinner hammered Sasha Bublik in their quarterfinal, but Bublik did have some success with the drop shot. Djokovic’s 36 droppers were a nightmare for an accomplished clay-court player like Alexander Zverev and could be the key to a Djokovic victory.

Djokovic was better than a 2:1 dog last summer and made most of us look foolish when he beat Alcaraz here for the Gold, and he has enough game left in the tank to trouble Sinner enough to pull off the upset.

Joker may be on the decline, but he shouldn’t be a 3:1 underdog to anyone, and especially not against someone with the limited success that Sinner has on this surface.

Djokovic is the GOAT, and he’s two match wins away from winning more majors than anyone else.  I’m betting Joker gets the last laugh on Friday.
