2025 MLB Home Run Derby rules
Round 1
- Batters have 3 minutes or 40 pitches (whichever comes first).
- Once time expires, a bonus round begins with no time limit but only three outs — any swing that doesn't result in a home run counts as an out.
- Bonus boost: Any homer hit 425+ feet earns one extra out in the bonus round.
Semifinals & Finals
- Rounds are shortened to 2 minutes or 27 pitches.
- Bonus round rules stay the same as Round 1.
- In the event of a tie, a 60-second swing-off takes place.
- If still tied, batters move to three-swing sudden death rounds until a winner is declared.
