Today’s Blue Jays best bet: Clement crushes another lefty

Ernie Clement is batting .298 on the season, but that number grows to .400 with an OPS of 1.100 when a lefty is on the mound.
Wouldn’t you know it, the Los Angeles Angels are sending out left-handed Tyler Anderson as today’s starter.
Clement has faced Anderson nine times in his career, going 3-for-9 with all three hits being for extra bases. I expect him to have similar success and rack up the base totals, going over his posted line of 1.5.
Anderson is 2-5 this season with a lackluster 4.12 ERA with 38 extra base hits given up across his 17 starts this season. He also has fairly poor underlying metrics, ranking in the 29th percentile in xERA, with a high opposition barrel rate.
That’s one thing Clement has excelled in this season, ranking in the 98th percentile in squared-up rate. This should be the advantage the Toronto Blue Jays slugger needs this afternoon when he steps up to the plate against Anderson.

We’ll continue riding some hot bats from the Blue Jays offense and take Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to also go Over 1.5 bases. He is 7-for-13 with a 1.292 OPS against Anderson throughout his career.
Next up, I’ll continue to ride the George Springer gravy train until it stops. The Jays slugger is getting on base with a .600 OBP in his last five games.
He’s come across to score nine times in that stretch since being placed in the two-hole in the lineup, and I expect him to cross home plate again today.
