The St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs have split the first two games of their National League Central series, and the rubber match goes down this evening at Wrigley Field.

Chicago has Matthew Boyd toeing the rubber, and my top Cardinals vs. Cubs predictions and MLB picks are calling for the North Siders to win convincingly on Sunday, July 6.

Caesars QuickPick: Our Cardinals vs Cubs same-game parlay (SGP)

Cubs -1.5

Kyle Tucker Over 1.5 hits + runs + RBI

Nolan Gorman Over 0.5 hits + runs + RBI

The Chicago Cubs have won 16 of their past 22 home games and have a sizable pitching advantage over the St. Louis Cardinals this afternoon.

Cubs star Kyle Tucker has teed off on righties to the tune of a .392 wOBA, .234 ISO and .927 OPS while racking up 94 hits, 64 runs and 52 RBI across 88 contests.

He’s also 3-for-5 against Erick Fedde with a double and a home run, and the St. Louis righty has been serving up meatballs of late.

Turning to the final leg of this same-game parlay, Cards utility man Nolan Gorman has heated up of late with seven runs, 11 hits, and nine RBI across his past 12 games while posting a solid .352 wOBA, .273 ISO, and .821 OPS.

Gorman doesn’t have the platoon advantage against Matthew Boyd, but that’s built into the price, and he only needs to mark the boxscore once to hit the Over.

Cardinals vs Cubs prediction for Sunday Night Baseball

My Cardinals vs Cubs best bet: Cubs -1.5 (+105 at Caesars)

The Cardinals have a below-average offense against left-handed pitchers with a 17th-ranked wOBA and 22nd-rank ISO, and Cubs southpaw Boyd has taken care of business to the tune of a 2.65 ERA and 1.08 WHIP.

Boyd has also allowed two runs or fewer in each of his past seven starts.

Of course, the Chicago lineup continues to mash and ranks third in both wOBA and ISO against right-handed pitchers.

The Cubbies made life miserable for Cards righty Fedde last time they faced him with seven runs across just 3 2/3 frames on June 25, and Fedde also allowed seven runs in his latest start to climb to a 4.56 ERA, 1.42 WHIP, and 5.18 xFIP for the campaign.
