The first two games of this series didn’t feature the fireworks anticipated, with just 15 runs being scored in total.
There’s plenty of reason to anticipate a higher scoring affair in the finale, which is why I’m backing the bats with my Cubs vs. Twins predictions.
Cubs vs Twins prediction
My Cubs vs Twins best bet: Trevor Larnach Over 1.5 hits + runs + RBI (-137 at Caesars)
Trevor Larnach has crushed right-handed pitching this season, especially on home soil. He's hitting .319 with a .989 OPS and .422 wOBA against righties, all of which lead regular Minnesota Twins players.
He has a mouthwatering matchup this afternoon against Colin Rea. The veteran righty has struggled mightily to slow down left-handed bats.
His numbers are even worse when isolating day games. Left-handed bats are sporting a .340 average and 17.6% barrel rate spanning 118 batters faced.
Rea throws the fastball more than 50% of the time against lefties. That should play into the hands of Larnach, who owns a .297 average and whopping .432 ISO against fastballs when playing at home.
Cubs vs Twins same-game parlay (SGP)
Trevor Larnach Over 1.5 hits + runs + RBI
Matt Wallner Over 1.5 hits + runs + RBI
Kyle Tucker Over 1.5 total bases
Matt Wallner is another lefty who profiles very well against Rea. Wallner ranks third on the Twins in wOBA at home against right-handed pitching. Isolating day games, he leads the way with a remarkable 20.7% barrel rate. He has a lot of power and it should shine through in this matchup.
Going the other way, I like Kyle Tucker to make some noise for the Chicago Cubs. He has averaged 2.2 bases per game on the road this season and owns a 47% clear rate overall despite falling short in eight consecutive outings. He is too talented not to ramp things up sooner rather than later.
