Corey Seager has missed a lot of time this season, but he’s healthy now and playing some of his best baseball of the year.

My Rangers vs. Padres predictions expect Seager to be front and center for the road team in what could be a high-scoring affair.

Let’s break it all down with my MLB picks for Saturday, July 5.

Rangers vs Padres prediction

My Rangers vs Padres best bet: Corey Seager Over 1.5 total bases (+110 at bet365)

Corey Seager is firing on all cylinders right now. He has recorded at least two bases in six of his last nine games, averaging 2.77 during that span.

His numbers are even better when isolating right-handed pitching. He has averaged 2.9 bases over his last 10 against right-handed starters, which he’ll see tonight in Stephen Kolek.

Seager is tearing the cover off the ball, and there’s plenty of reason to believe that will continue against the San Diego Padres.

For one, Seager is hitting .333 with a .417 ISO against cutters, sliders, and four-seam fastballs over the last month. Those are the pitches Kolek predominantly throws, setting up Seager to have success.

Kolek is also getting ripped apart by left-handed bats like Seager. He has allowed a .290 average and 60.47% hard hit rate vs. lefties over the past month.

Those are unbelievably bad numbers and far worse than what he’s managed against righties.

Look for Seager, who has barreled up on at least one ball in seven straight games, to do some damage in this one.

Rangers vs Padres same-game parlay (SGP)

Corey Seager Over 1.5 total bases

Jackson Merrill Over 0.5 singles

Luis Arraez Over 0.5 singles

Jackson Merrill is a singles machine. He has recorded at least one single in 56% of his games this season. He’s had success against pitchers of both handedness and has six singles over his last six games vs. left-handed starters.

Meanwhile, Luis Arraez ranks 11th in the majors in singles and has hit one in 76% of his home games this season. 76%! Texas Rangers starter Patrick Corbin allows more than nine hits per nine innings, which should lead to plenty of action on the bases for San Diego.
