The Atlanta Dream will look to continue their fast start to the season as they visit the basement-dwelling Connecticut Sun at Mohegan Sun Arena on Friday night.

Atlanta easily beat Connecticut in their last meeting, and my Dream vs. Sun predictions are picking them to score another big win tonight.

Read on to see my full WNBA picks for this June 6 matchup.

Dream vs Sun predictions

My Dream vs Sun best bet: Dream -10.5 (-110 at FanDuel)

Outside of the undefeated New York Liberty and Minnesota Lynx squads, nobody in the WNBA is playing better than the Atlanta Dream. It’s also arguable that nobody has been worse than the Connecticut Sun, who have won just one game as they flounder through a rebuilding season.

But it’s not just the 1-6 record that should have bettors looking to take advantage of the Sun. Connecticut has an astoundingly bad -18.2 point differential on the season, a number that is striking this early in the year.

The Sun are among the worst defensive teams in the league to start the season. They’ve posted a 112.8 defensive rating, which is dead-last in the WNBA, while allowing opponents to shoot 47.7% from the field (also last) and 40.2% from three-point range (12th).

If those first-chance buckets don’t go in against Connecticut, don’t worry, as it also has the lowest rebounding percentage in the league (47.1%).

Of course, such a bad start doesn’t come from just one source, and the Sun are also arguably the worst offensive team in the WNBA. Connecticut averages a league-low 70.9 ppg while shooting a dismal 39.6% from the field and below 30% from beyond the arc.

It doesn’t take a basketball genius to see that these offensive and defensive numbers simply don’t add up to success.

Meanwhile, Atlanta is off to a fast start, having covered in each of its last four games. The Dream scored an easy 24-point victory over the Sun in their first meeting, holding Connecticut to 22 points in the second half.

If anything, the Atlanta offense underperformed in that game. Nobody scored 20+ points, and the team shot just 40.8% from the field and 10-for-35 from deep. Now, with Brittney Griner back in the lineup and getting a second shot against a defense that puts up very little resistance, I expect far more scoring from the Dream – and a similarly poor effort out of the Sun.

Dream vs Sun same-game parlay (SGP)

Dream -10.5

Allisha Gray Over 17.5 points

Rhyne Howard 15+ points

I’m all over the Dream tonight, and that extends to a couple of scoring props on their top players. Along with taking Atlanta to cover the 10.5-point spread, I’m also taking both Allisha Gray and Rhyne Howard to hit scoring milestones tonight.

For Gray, that means taking the Over at 17.5 points. Gray (21.4 ppg) shouldn’t have much trouble hitting a modest total against a Sun team that is allowing 89.1 ppg on the year,

She only scored 18 points against Connecticut in their first meeting, but even that would be a win tonight, and she has beat tonight’s total in each of her last four games.

Meanwhile, Howard (17.6 ppg) is coming off a sterling 33-point performance against the Seattle Storm last week.

I’m not quite as confident in how much Howard will put on the board tonight, so I’m taking a slightly safer play by picking her to hit the 15-point mark, something she’s done in two straight games and in four of her last six appearances overall.

His betting strategy focuses more on finding line value based on deviations from the market rather than traditional handicapping, primarily shopping between DraftKings, FanDuel, and Fanatics in his home state of Connecticut, though he’s not afraid to do deep game analysis to find profitable bets at any book.

Ed's advice to new bettors is to always open multiple sportsbook accounts and check the odds at each before placing any bet. Successful sports betting is about consistently beating the closing line value, which requires finding spots where one book is offering odds far better than the rest of the market and jumping on those opportunities.
