The Indiana Fever hosted the Chicago Sky in their season-opener on May 17 and routed the visitors 93-58. Caitlin Clark recorded a triple-double, and after some chippy play from both teams, new fire was added to the Clark-Angel Reese rivalry. Unfortunately, Clark will be out tonight for the rematch against a Sky team that's won back-to-back games.

With Clark out, Kelsey Mitchell is next in line to keep the Fever offense rolling, and she’ll need to be at her best against Ariel Atkins. Read my WNBA picks to see why I’m backing strong play from opposing guards and why I’m taking the home team to snag the win.

My Fever vs Sky best bet: Sky moneyline (+125 at bet365)

Down from 85.3 points to 81.7, this Indiana Fever offense has faltered without Clark across the last three games. The Fever defense ranks third in points per game allowed in that span, but the team is just 1-2 without its superstar point guard. Indiana split its last two games with the Washington Mystics and fell to the Connecticut Sun, arguably the worst team in the W.

The Chicago Sky offense has soared over its last three games, and the team is 2-1 straight up and 3-0 ATS in that span. The Sky beat the last-place Wings twice in a row, but they did so with a pair of monster offensive performances. Chicago covered against the Mercury on the road, posting 89 points on one of the league’s best defenses.

Without Clark and Sophie Cunningham, Indiana’s defense will be under a lot of pressure to contain Chicago’s hot offensive attack. If this game turns into a track meet, I’m not confident in Indiana’s ability to keep pace with Chicago and the strong play of Ariel Atkins.

Indiana ranks first in the W in percentage of points scored in the paint this season, but the team is sixth in that category across the last three without Clark. Chicago’s interior defense isn’t elite, but the Sky aren’t horrendous in that regard, ranking middle-of-the-pack in opponent points in the paint.

The Sky should be feeling confident on a two-game win streak, and the sting of a 35-point loss in the opener surely isn’t gone. There’s no love lost between these Midwest rivals, and the home team should be hungry for a win against the team that blew them out.

I’m taking the healthier and more motivated Sky to win this one at home and pull off the upset over a shorthanded Fever squad.

Fever vs Sky same-game parlay (SGP)

Sky moneyline

Kelsey Mitchell 2+ threes

Ariel Atkins Over 15.5 points

Kelsey Mitchell dropped 24 points and canned four triples in Tuesday’s win over the Mystics, and she’s done a great job picking up the offensive slack in Caitlin Clark’s absence. Over the last three games with Clark on the sideline, she's averaged 17 points and two triples.

She’s hit multiple threes in five of seven games on the season, including two in the first meeting with Chicago. The Sky have allowed the most points per game, the most triples, and the highest 3-point percentage to opponents, making this a favorable matchup.

Atkins is one of the W’s hottest scorers across her last three games, averaging 21.3 points and 2.7 triples while shooting 51.2% from the field and 40% from beyond the arc. In that span, Atkins has racked up point totals of  26, 17, and 21, easily clearing this scoring line in three straight.
